It’s the Goodrich Fun Fun Fun Run on 12th May!

Small kids, big kids, grown-ups, runners, joggers and walkers – we need you!

This year’s sponsored Fun Run will take place on Sunday 12th May in Peckham Rye Park.  There will be a 5k race and a 1mile race, so dig out your running shoes (and perhaps your favourite fancy dress costume?) mark the date in your diaries and get your entry form in now.

It’s £10 for adults and £2 for children to take part, and everyone gets a t-shirt and medal. The event will be plastic-free, so please bring your own water bottle. We’ve also got special trophies for the fastest Goodrich girl and boy, plus prizes for the best fancy dress.

We need plenty of volunteers on the day, so if you can spare a little bit of time or have any questions about the event, please contact Sarah Rahim on

World Book Day highlights

It’s been a World Book Day week of wonder here at Goodrich!

The children had an awe-inspiring week of author visits: firing up their imagination, absorbing fascinating facts, developing illustration skills, and getting the chance to ask burning questions of real life authors. They’ve been learning how to draw evil chickens with Emer Stamp, and enjoying story-telling workshops with Suzanne Hemmings, Lucy Reynolds and Rob Lloyd Jones. Not to mention reading and discussion with multi-award-winning author Geraldine McCaughrean. Plus there was the chance for all children to have their books personally signed by the authors they met.

Thanks to funding from FoG and an enormous amount of hard work by Goodrich parent Marcela Ferreira to organise all the events, there was a wonderful author visit every day, covering all age groups from nursery through to year 6.

And finally, thanks to Dulwich Books for kindly supporting our WBD token swap and book stall.

Committee meeting, Monday 19th November

This way for the next FoG Committee meeting!  Join us at 8pm at The Herne Tavern, Forest Hill Road on Monday 19th November.

We usually talk about the fundraising events and activities that are coming up (new brains very welcome…) plus make decisions on how the money raised can be spent to help benefit all our children at Goodrich.

We’d love to see you there!

November ask! Can you help?

There’s a few things we need help with this month – could you lend a hand?  Everything we do to support the school is thanks to parent volunteers, so if you can spare half an hour or more, we’d be hugely grateful.  In particular:

  • Putting up some new shelves in the FoG shed (it’s where we store all the useful bits and pieces that we use for all our fundraising events) – perfect if you’re a dab hand with a hammer…
  • Making chilli jam, cranberry sauce, redcurrant jelly, onion marmalade or strawberry jam, to be sold at the Winter Fair – great if you love a bit of cooking…
  • Helping coordinate and put together the fabulous hampers that we auction off at the Winter Fair – ideal if you have a creative eye…
  • First aid skills – just in case anyone needs help during the Winter Fair (12noon – 3pm, Saturday 1st December)
  • Setting up and taking down the Winter Fair on the evening of Friday 30th November and afternoon of Saturday 1st December.

Thank you!
