Get your tickets for the FoG quiz – back after 3 years in the Goodrich School Hall! We are thrilled to welcome back the fabulous Tina Sparkles as our host to test the knowledge of teams of parents, carers and teachers to see who will be crowned Quiz Champions of 2022. Drinks will be available from the bar on the night. Vegetarian biriyani, Sag Aloo and Samosas can be pre-ordered when you buy your tickets and will be served hot on the night. Come as a team, maximum 8 people, or join one on the night. Everyone is welcome. All proceeds go to Friends of Goodrich who aim to make life even more fun for our children at Goodrich.
Buy your tickets on line at https://bit.ly/FoGquiz. We will also have some tickets available from the school office closer to the time.
We also need a First Aider for the event, if anyone would like to volunteer this this that would be greatly appreciated!
Get your green fingers ready cause we have a gardening morning!
Saturday 12th November at 9.30am, come along and help tidy up the flower beds in the school playground, have a cup of tea and meet some other parents & carers.
Winter Trail and Fair, Saturday 3rd December
Save the date for this year’s festive extravaganza on the afternoon of Saturday 3rd December! Following the success of last year’s Winter Trail, there will be new one around the neighbourhood, with some of your favourite stalls along the route. This year there will also be stalls and live music at school to enjoy at the start or finish.
We’ll be looking for donations of Christmas jumpers, jolly jam jars and chapter books near the time, so please start putting those aside, as well as cakes.
We’re on the search for volunteers both to help in advance and on the day. Top of the list for now are the raffle, Santa’s grotto and hamper auction. All of these roles work well (and are more fun!) if two or more people take them on together, so gather up a friend or two to help. If you’re interested or have any questions, please email us at friendsofgoodrich@gmail.com.
If you’re available to help on the day please let us know at the same address.
Playground Art!
Calling all artists, creative and wanna-be’s, we need you! Hopefully everyone has now had chance to see the spectacular bottle top ‘Reduce, Recycle, Reuse Octopus’ in the lower playground. We are
looking for an artistic volunteer/volunteers to take on the next project of creating a world map for the playground. This is something the children via the school council have asked for many times. If anyone has any fab ideas and wants to be involved please email us on friendsofgoodrich@gmail.com.
FoG Survey
What should we spend our money on? FoG raises thousands of pounds every year to enrich the education of children who attend Goodrich. Here’s your chance to have your say and shape the future of FoG. Have your say here: bit.ly/fog-survey The survey will be open for responses until 9th December 2022.
Halloween Scavenger Hunt Winners
There were some amazingly creative entries to our half term scavenger hunt, which raised £159.80 through sponsorship.
The winners were: Logan Bifulco in Reception class 22 (Early Years), Milly in Year 2 class 5 (KS 1) and Ines Mason in Year 5 class 19 (KS 2). There were special mentions also for Siofra Sands King in Year 1 class 25 for the best spell and Ben Hill in Year 3 class 7 for the scariest find from a Goblin’s Lair (the judges hope it was goblin’s blood rather than Ben’s!) Thank you to all the entrants; certificates are on their way to you.
Coffee morning
It was great to meet lots of new parents at the FoG coffee morning last Friday. We’ll be running regular coffee mornings so do look out for future dates and come along for a coffee/ tea and chat.
We even offer biscuits!
Cake Sale
The cake sale was a success, thanks to everyone for bringing in and buying all the goodies! We were able to raise an extra £280 for the school. Next up is our big end-of-year holiday cake sale extravaganza, keep your eyes peeled for more details on that.
AGM
9th November a big thank you to everyone who came along to our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday. The Treasurer’s report for 2021-22 was presented, and seven of the current trustees were re-
elected. There was an overview presentation of FoG activity in the last school year, and some good discussion and ideas for future events and spending.
World Book Day
Plans are already in motion! And don’t forget that we have a whole week of celebrations too – Goodrich’s own World Book Week, which makes our school pretty special. However, this is Marcela’s last time organising this weeklong event, which means we need your help. So if you like reading, have a passion for books, work or know people in the publishing industry or just want to take on a new project, now is the time to get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
Have any Xmas Jumpers to spare?
Having an end of year clear out? Remember to save your Christmas
jumpers! FOG will be asking for your jumper donations soon enough.
