We’re on the search for volunteers both to help in advance and on the day. Top of the list for now are the raffle, Santa’s grotto and hamper auction. All of these roles work well and are more fun, if two or more people take them on together, so gather up a friend or two to help. If you’re interested or have any questions, please email us at friendsofgoodrich@gmail.com. If you’re available to help on the day please let us know at the same address.
Thanks – Alexia
Raffle
The raffle is one of our biggest fundraisers. The role involves sourcing prizes and arranging ticket sales in advance and on the day. You will need to approach local businesses – and we have a list of local businesses who have previously donated prizes to follow up with. Advertising in the school newsletter usually turns up some prizes too. We have comprehensive instructions, and can put you in touch with our previous raffle organiser (who has now left the school).
Santa’s Grotto
This is really popular with the kids! You need to find a willing Santa/ Mrs Santa and elf helpers, and source and wrap a stack of presents (costs will of course be reimbursed). On the day you can go wild on creating a festive setting for the kids to come and visit Santa!
Hampers
This is a Goodrich tradition. Working through class reps, you will need to allocate a theme to each class (e.g. Indian food lover’s, gardener’s, chocoholic’s hamper). Each class should then self-organise to bring in items related to their theme, and a suitable basket to put them in. Ahead of the fair the organising team will need to prepare the hampers – arranging the items attractively and prepping for auction. On the day you will need to lay the hampers out and arrange for the stall to be manned (we have detailed instructions for this).
